Kareri is a serene village and a popular trekking destination located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It lies around 27 km north of Dharamshala and is known for its picturesque landscapes, tranquil environment, and beautiful trekking routes.

Kareri Lake: Kareri Lake is one of the most popular attractions in the region. It’s a high-altitude freshwater lake located at around 2,930 meters (9,610 feet). The lake is surrounded by dense forests and snow-capped peaks, making it a beautiful and peaceful destination.
Trekking Trails: The Kareri Lake trek is one of the most famous trekking routes in Himachal. It is considered moderately challenging and offers stunning views of the Dhauladhar range, lush meadows, and alpine scenery. The trek can be done in 2-3 days, with camping at Kareri Lake.
Dhauladhar Range: Kareri offers spectacular views of the Dhauladhar mountain range, which is often covered with snow. The view of the peaks from Kareri village and while trekking to the lake is one of the most scenic highlights of the area.
Local Village Life: The village of Kareri is a small, traditional Himachali settlement. It offers a glimpse into the simple and rustic life of the locals, who mainly rely on agriculture and animal husbandry.
Wildlife and Flora: The area around Kareri, especially along the trekking routes, is rich in biodiversity. You may spot various species of birds, including Himalayan Monals (Himachal’s state bird), and different types of wildflowers and plants.
